Dar Al Nur
Community Center
About us
A beacon of faith, knowledge and service.
Dar Al Nur Community Center is an Islamic centre serving the DMV metro area. Our vision is to enrich the lives of the Muslim community and to foster a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through the door.
Our mission
Three commitments we are held to
Everything the centre runs — every class, halaqa, counselling session and community event — answers to one of these three.
Spiritual well-being
Supporting the spiritual life of the Muslim community through prayer services, educational programmes and the steady work of building community.
Values and traditions
Promoting Islamic values through authentic scholarship, cultural events and open interfaith dialogue with our neighbours.
Individuals and families
Empowering people with educational resources and real opportunities to grow — academically, professionally and spiritually.
Inside the center
Circles that have run every week for twenty-seven years
Boys and girls sit with their teachers around an open mus-haf. It is the same shape our huffadh learned in before they went on to lead Taraweeh in masajid across this region — and it is the thing a building of our own would finally give room to.
On a busy weekend these two circles, the Tahfeez group and Jumu’ah all want the same carpet on the same morning. That is the whole case for a larger building, in one picture.
What your gift protects
Eight programs already running out of three rented rooms
None of this waits for the new building. All of it gets bigger inside one.
Qur’an School
Beginner recitation through Tahfeez memorization, taught weekday evenings and weekends.
Weekly Lectures
Halaqat for youth, sisters and parents, plus recorded Tafsir and Hadith sessions online.
Islamic Studies Diploma
A structured multi-term diploma, available to take in person or online.
Mentorship
Older students and professionals paired with teenagers navigating school and faith.
IT Training & Jobs
Technical training and job placement support for new arrivals and career changers.
Tutoring & Homeschool
Academic tutoring and a homeschooling track for families who want both deen and dunya covered.
Family & Marriage Support
